| Dear
Friends,
As we begin a new
year at Campbell
Custom Homes, Inc.,
we look forward
to meeting new people
and the opportunity
to help them with
their construction
needs. We feel blessed
to operate a business
in which we are
able to bring people's
dreams into reality.
Several months
ago we were made
aware of a need
that I KNOW
together we can
fulfull.
Mindy Kirkpatrick
is a single mom
who lives in Berryville
with her son Taylor,
who is 14 yrs. old.
When Taylor was
1, he was diagnosed
with Lagerhans Cell
Histiocytosis. This
disease is extremely
rare and affects
only 1 in 200,000
kids. This disease
has robbed Taylor
of the ability to
walk, play with
his friends or even
speak clearly. Taylor
is dependant on
his mom for every
function we all
take for granted.
Taylor will not
grow up and leave
home. He will always
require help with
all physical needs.
Knowing this, you
might expect them
to be bitter or
angry. They are
not. They never
complain or ask
for help. Mindy
and Taylor have
faith in God and
are at peace with
his condition. Mindy
tells people that
Taylor belongs to
God, but as long
as God allows Taylor
to be here they
will fight. Although
Mindy obviously
provides Taylor
with everything
in her power, their
home is no longer
sufficient to meet
his needs. It is
not handicap accessible
and proves to be
a source of frustration.
There are numerous
safety issues as
well, such as lack
of suitable exits
from the home in
the event of a fire,
or other emergency.
I could go on with
details of why there
is a need here,
but I don't feel
it's necessary.
It is our intention
to build a new home
for the Kirkpatrick's
so they can leave
behind the worries
and difficulty of
maneuvering through
a home that does
not meet their needs.
On January 14,
2010 we had a meeting
with all sub-contractors
who represent Campbell
Custom Homes, Inc.,
and took that opportunity
to inform them of
this project. As
we expected, several
have already stepped
forward and generously
donated labor and/or
materials.
This will undoubtedly
help in our effort,
but we need your
generosity to make
this happen. Please
take a few days
to consider participating
in what we feel
is a great opportunity
to serve. As a group,
we can improve Mindy
and Taylor's quality
of life immeasurably
and at the same
time, show our appreciation
for all we have
been blessed with
in our lives. Please
contact Jason or
Cindy if you have
any questions. We
greatly appreciate
your consideration
and open hearts.
With
Love and Gratitude, |
